Serving Anchorage

Excavation Services

Highmark Services provides excavation and site preparation for residential and small commercial projects throughout Anchorage. Trenching, grading, drainage control, base preparation, land clearing, and groundwork ahead of paving or construction are all jobs we can do. If the job requires moving dirt before the real work starts, that is the part we take care of. Site prep is the part nobody sees once the project is finished, and it is also the part that determines whether the finished project holds up. Poor drainage and an unstable base show themselves eventually, usually after the first freeze and thaw cycle.

Residential Land Clearing

Removal of brush, trees, stumps, and organic material to prepare land for construction, driveways, parking areas, or general property improvement. Clearing vegetation and unstable soils creates a solid base for future development. We haul the debris off site so the lot is ready for the next phase of work, not stacked with slash piles.
Clearing the organics and unstable soil first is what gives everything built after it a solid base.

Driveway & Parking Pad Preparation

Preparation of stable gravel pads for parking areas, driveways, equipment storage, and building sites. This process typically includes stripping organic material, grading or improving the subgrade, installing geotextile fabric when needed, and placing compacted base material to create a durable foundation. A properly built pad holds its shape through freeze and thaw instead of rutting out the first spring.

Yard Leveling & Site Grading

Reshaping and leveling uneven terrain to improve drainage, usability, and overall property appearance. Proper grading helps prevent standing water, erosion, and foundation issues. We grade with the water’s exit path in mind, so runoff moves away from the house rather than pooling against it.

Grading decides where the water goes, and that gets settled before anything is planted or poured.

Drainage Ditching

Installation and reshaping of drainage ditches to direct water away from structures, roads, and work areas. Effective drainage is critical in Alaska’s climate, where meltwater and saturated ground cause damage and instability. A ditch cut to the right depth and slope keeps water moving instead of soaking into the subgrade.

Culvert Installation

Installation of culverts allow proper water flow beneath driveways, access roads, and drainage crossings. We size, place, and backfill each culvert to maintain long-term function and prevent washouts. Correct sizing matters most during breakup, when volume spikes and an undersized pipe backs up fast.
